sorry I haven't been online for a while, and haven't been pushing package updates either

trying to graduate and stuff

whereiseveryone: I have never actually tried nix so I can only talk out of my ass in this situation
<cem>
But I will still talk about it, because that's how I am as a person :^)
<cem>
The concept is honestly nice, but I don't understand the point of reproducible builds
<cem>
(For a personal computer)
<cem>
I would perhaps find it useful if I was managing a fleet of servers, or had multiple computers that I had to frequently switch between
<cem>
But I have a single computer, and manage like 3 servers with different distros and completely separated purposes
<cem>
So I feel like it would be too much of an overhead for me to setup nix, with very little to gain

That's a good point. I had a conversation recently with a software developer/friend recently that I respect a lot who voiced a similar opinion although in the context of pex files (another rabbit hole).
<whereiseveryone>
I also fix the concept of derivations in nix/guix to be interesting but I agree that the whole system and abstraction has a very large "cost of ownership"
<whereiseveryone>
guix also has issues with regards to performance that might not get ironed out any time soon and would require much specialist knowledge in a complex/complicated system to figure out
<whereiseveryone>
at least for my skill set

I am updating the core packages now, I'll push in a bit, and then get started on the other repositories
