<riteo>wat
<riteo>why
<riteo>btw those were the wrong pics
<riteo>I think I have those in my desktop, I'll send them later
<kris_>i have no idea why they block it
<kris_>something about it not being moderated enough
<kris_>idk my friend runs his own sharing service and generally i just use that
<kris_>https://share.boba.best/
<riteo>i'll use that if it works for you
<kris_>^ this is also dead simple to selfhost if you were inclined
<kris_>i ran it for a little bit but i got worried about people uploading like fucked up shit of some sort so i shut it down

<riteo>I _think_ that depending on where you live you have protections against that
<riteo>legally
<kris_>i'm american, so i dont have protections
<kris_>i would if i registered like an LLC or something to run it under
* riteodies
<kris_>him and i have been talking about just adding something to require a login so you can run basically an invite only sharing service
<kris_>therefore you dont have to trust anyone because you only give people access that you trust
<kris_>and some form of e2ee that encrypts on the users browser or via one of the clients
<kris_>which i still need to implement some form of encryption on my bobashare client
<riteo>oh yeah e2ee would probably work around the issue very nicely
<kris_>the issue with e2ee is that it makes it more difficult for people to use
<riteo>I think that's why a lot of bad corporations want it, they can still make money on metadata while getting rid of a lot of liabilities
<kris_>because whoever you're sending a file to needs a pssphrase ofc
<riteo>just put it in the link
<kris_>but then the server has the passphrase
<kris_>or well
<kris_>hmm, you might be onto something
<kris_>the thing is, *we* don't give a shit what people share, just don't want to be held liable for what people may choose to share
<kris_>would be best if we just can't see any of it at all
<riteo>no the server doesn't need a passphrase
<riteo>mega.nz uses the fragment of the url I think
<riteo>it's not new stuff really
<kris_>right, fragment the url and the server never gets the part of this that is used to unlock it
<kris_>that isnt a bad idea
