I would be interested, but Im still not sure what I would use it for tbh
<midfavila>
it's a very niche device
<midfavila>
i got it because i've only used phones as portable linux machines with wwan
<sad_plan>
I get that. if I really need linux stuff on my handheld, I just use neotty, which is a wm using alpine. so I have a wm with x86_64 alpine. which is nice. I dont really use it for that much, but I like it
<sad_plan>
as opposed to termux, which is never updated, and also dont work outside the owner profile
<sad_plan>
which I dont use for regular stuff
<midfavila>
yeah termux sucks
<midfavila>
lmao
<midfavila>
ig the other thing for me too is that i want as much of my equipment to share parts as is possible
<midfavila>
with the reform and the uconsole that's pretty easy
<sad_plan>
I get that. would be awesome if you can swap parts between your handheld/desktop/laptop
<sad_plan>
youre already miles ahead of everyone else though, seeing as you can swap your cpu module across both of them
<midfavila>
well, not quite yet
<midfavila>
...not to mention my reform is still out of commission-
<midfavila>
but the hope is to be able to in the future
<sad_plan>
why was it out of commision again?
<sad_plan>
why arent they compatible yet? thought they were
<midfavila>
the mnt module socket is a different type, that's all
<midfavila>
as is the clockwork pi
<midfavila>
but both have cm4 adapters
<midfavila>
and i'm still waiting on a warranty claim for the power circuitry blowing on me.
<sad_plan>
so with an adopter, you could swap them?
<midfavila>
hardware-wise, yeah
<sad_plan>
I see
<midfavila>
in theory
<midfavila>
in practice you would need to swap out some device trees and make sure the two modules have equivalent I/O
<sad_plan>
hm
<midfavila>
hrm
<midfavila>
indeed
<midfavila>
i wonder how they got wiringpi to run on the r01
<midfavila>
probably just patched it. but it's annoying that wiringpi will abort if it determines it isnt on an rpi
<midfavila>
im all for supporting the pi foundation but bitching about people buying alternatives when the pi itself is a hot commodity and when other modules are contributing back to rpi is just dumb
<midfavila>
id just use sysfs but it seems like the pins aren't exposed...
riteo
quit (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
riteo
joined
<midfavila>
ugh
<midfavila>
i need to email clockwork and ask them to get their shit together
<midfavila>
coming from mnt this has been a nightmare
<midfavila>
hey unrelated do you guys know of any crowdsourced search engines?
<midfavila>
something like wiby
<midfavila>
i feel like crowdsourced search engines for specific topics are going to be way more useful than google or etc at this point
<midfavila>
maybe this dates me a bit but i remember when i was younger it was super easy to find stuff online and now you can't go two links without getting slammed with ads and paywalls and adblocker-blockers and all this other crap
